The Races

The High Altitude challenge is of 3 levels:
50Km Trail- Beginners,
100Km Trail - Seasoned, and
150Km+ Trail - Pro.
All routes are single loop. Each will need climbing 15,000ft. at least once.
All races will be in semi-supported supported format. Runners are expected to carry hydration bags with sufficient energy supplies and thermal blanket.

The Challenge

 50Kms:  ITRA Km-Effort points 78, ITRA 3 points (M category) -proposed.
Altitude gain: ~ 2800mtrs (9200ft), 2 high passes. Max Altitude: @4940mtrs.(16200ft)

 100Kms:  ITRA Km-Effort points 161, ITRA 5 points (XL category) -proposed.
Altitude gain: ~6100mtr (20000ft), 3 high passes, Max Altitude: @5259 mtrs (17250ft) 

150+Kms: ITRA Km-Effort level 240, ITRA 6 points (XXL category) -proposed.
Altitude gain: ~9000mtr (29500ft), 5 high passes, Max Altitude: @5259 mtrs (17250ft)

Requirements

This is an extreme demanding event. The races will be held in semi autonomy manner and in high altitudes, which will require runners to climb to 15,000ft min. Hence runners are expected to be well trained and acclimatised to the altitude. There will be certain qualifying criteria for each race. Prior ITRA points will be required for participating in the 100km and 150km races. There will be limited water stations along the route. 1 or 2 crew support points will be available for 100km and 150km races. Details will roll out later.

Leh is the capital of Ladakh region in India, in the to be formed Union territory of Ladakh. It is easily accessible from the national capital Delhi by air or by road.


Air:  - Leh has a domestic airport with daily flights from Delhi, Srinagar, Mumbai and Chandigarh. Beautiful sights of the Greater Himalayan range will mesmerise you as fly over them. Experiencing landing on this technical airport is quite thrilling.


Road:  -  Leh is on National highway 1 and can be driven from Srinagar and Manali. Both these roads go through some scenic high altitude passes. The one from Manali is in particular famous for adventurous motorbike or cycling rides. 


Local Sightseeing: - Ladakh is a beautiful place and is very popular among tourists. One week is good to explore the mountainous terrain and beautiful lakes. Sightseeing tours can be easily arranged by us.


Treks: - Those who want to hike around, there are plenty of treks of various difficulty level around the town of Leh. Let us know for your Hiking, Trekking expeditions.
